Chief University introduces Aluminum Damage Analysis and Repair Technology. This one-day class covers damage analysis, repair decisions and techniques for working on aluminum vehicle components, like those on this 2015 Ford F-150.  

 

 

 

Madison, Indiana -- December 29, 2014 -- Chief University, the training arm of Chief Automotive Technologies and Elektron, has introduced Aluminum Damage Analysis and Repair Technology. This one-day class covers aluminum forming methods and metal characteristics, as well as damage analysis, repair decisions and techniques for working with vehicle components made of aluminum. This course is designed specifically for insurance professionals and technicians who want to broaden their understanding of vehicles made with aluminum, and techniques for repairing these vehicles. A two-day aluminum welding course is in development.

Mississauga, Ontario -- December 9, 2014 -- Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes has announced its 2015 first quarter training schedules. The company says the sessions provide collision repair industry professionals advanced knowledge in their field and the opportunity to receive an AWX Performance Plus Waterborne Painter Certification.

Courses will be held January to March in Ontario, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and Quebec. Participants will learn through a combination of classroom, web and hands-on settings at Canadian metropolitan Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes training and university centres in Mississauga, Halifax, Vancouver and Anjou (Montreal). Shop owners, managers, painters and technicians can choose to advance their production-excellence and paint application techniques, as well as earn their certification for AWX Performance Plus waterborne paint application. There will also be classes offered experiencing the brand’s ATX Refinish system, and another program specific to its Jobber 1 course training.

Hoffman Estates, Illinois -- November 26, 2014 -- Registration for I-CAR's new Vehicle Technology and Trends 2015 course—NEW15—is now open to all industry members.

The live 3-credit hour course provides a preview of developing vehicle and technology trends set to directly impact repair processes, including structural design innovations, system changes and new materials and electronics throughout new and redesigned vehicles. NEW15 will also focus on the aluminum-intensive vehicles entering the market, necessitating updated training on aluminum repair.

Hoffman Estates, Illinois -- November 24, 2014 -- I-CAR has announced 51 collision repair instruction sheets recently released by Ford for the launch of its F-150 are now available on I-CAR's Repairability Technical Support (RTS) Portal.

The information was provided directly to I-CAR from Ford, making the manufacturer the first to release comprehensive instruction sheets of this scale to the collision repair industry through the RTS Portal.

“As we speak the new, aluminum-intensive 2015 Ford F-150 is coming off the assembly line. It is important for collision repair professionals to have the information readily available to repair this popular vehicle made with new materials,” says Jason Bartanen, Director of Industry Technical Relations for I-CAR. “Working with Ford to provide this information via the RTS Portal improves industry access to the information required to support complete, safe and quality repairs.“

The 2015 Ford F-150 collision repair instruction sheets provide important detailed instructions for jobs including parts removal and installation procedures for front rail (apron tube) installation, pillars and rocker panel installation, and roof and roof rail installation.

For more detailed information on the Ford F-150, I-CAR is now offering a six-credit-hour 2015 Ford F-150 Structural Repair course. The instructor-led course covers material-specific training that highlights the unique processes associated with aluminum repair of Ford's F-150.

I-CAR also offers an Aluminum Welding and Training Certification program, helping to prepare welding technicians and repair facilities for the welding requirements of Ford's new pickup.
