Toronto, Ontario — Accident Support Services International Ltd (ASSI) has announced its “Start From Home” online service to allow citizens who have been involved in a collision to begin their own collision report.
The service, which can be accessed through reportacollision.com, specifically allows citizens who have been involved in a collision that meets the threshold to attend a Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) to instead start an online report from their own home and devices.
The new website will allow drivers to provide a typed statement and capture a number of the fields required to complete the accident form. From here, the driver will receive a reference code and must report to an ASSI CRC available in Ontario, Alberta and Prince Edward Island, to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the information collected. At the CRC, ASSI staff will take photographs, verify the information and work with the citizen to finish the report.
The goal of the new site is to help reduce the time taken at Collision Reporting Centres.
A recent press release further noted that “the CRC program will continue to provide insurers with their first notice of loss, carry on recording the information necessary for enhanced customer service, along with controlling fraud and other claims-related expenses.”
The “Start From Home” service is currently available in six languages. The press release concluded that more locations will continue to be rolled out, with the ultimate goal of expanding the site’s services to all of ASSI’s Collision Reporting Centres.
