Maple Ridge, British Columbia — The annual SD42 Trades Showcase Event–scheduled for January 30—is expected to help bring trades awareness to local students and their families.
Held by the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District, the event will feature more than 40 companies and organizations as part of the show, as well as a special women in trades section.
Students from across the district are welcome to attend and learn information from trades spokespeople such as those in the automotive repair sector, carpentry, electrical repair, metal fabricating and more.
Companies such as Bosa Construction and Parkland Fuel Corporation will also be in attendance alongside other industry figures.
Last year’s event hosted between 400 to 500 guests with this year’s event already featuring 210 student registries.
Brad Dingler, coordinator of the train and work in trades program with SD42 said that the event is all about making connections and networking.
Notably, he believes that skilled trades are becoming more popular as a career choice because “the cost analysis for a university degree is no longer there.”
The SD42 Trades Showcase Event will take place at Thomas Haney Secondary School, 23000 116 Avenue, Maple Ridge with doors opening at 5:30 pm.
