Stand Up Speak Out: OEM Certifications

Toronto, Ontario — Repair certifications for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have been a widely discussed topic over recent years. With vehicle complexity on the rise, many argue that automakers are simply doing the due diligence to ensure these high-tech systems are repaired to proper functionality. Some argue that the only correct repair is an OEM repair.

At the same time, some OE repair procedures and associated repair processes are restricted, lest you have a certification with the OEM. This has sparked debates like the Right to Repair bill that sits before Canada’s House of Commons, among countless other debacles behind closed doors and email firewalls.
Collision Repair magazine is seeking industry feedback on the value of OEM certifications. We are asking collision repair shop owners, managers, technicians, insurance partners, vendor partners and all collision industry stakeholders to take a moment to fill out the brief survey below and help paint a picture on the industry’s reception to OEM certification programs.
