WorldSkills Bound: SATA hosts training challenge for WorldSkills car painting finalists at Vaughan, Ontario training centre

Vaughan, Ontario — As a Global Partner of WorldSkills, SATA proudly provides equipment and expertise as well as hosting SATA Challenge events on-site at its Canadian headquarters and in Germany.

WorldSkills is the global hub of skills excellence, which promotes vocational education and training for young people in 85 Member countries and regions. The WorldSkills Competition, the world’s largest vocational skills competition, is held every two years.

The SATA Challenge, which began at 8:30 a.m. on July 15, offers WorldSkills participants the opportunity to practice under competition conditions and to familiarize themselves with the SATA equipment before the actual competition in Lyon, France from September 10 to 15.

The WorldSkills car painting finalists from Barbados, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States met this week at the SATA training centre in Vaughan, Ont., to test out their skills.

“All participants at WorldSkills are highly skilled and trained. So, they know how to paint. But to call up these skills in a tournament, to prepare for the specific WorldSkills tasks and to master these tasks under time and competitive pressure—that’s something else. And that’s what participants train for at the SATA Challenge,” said Jöern Stöever, Global Key Account Manager with SATA.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed for all participants for the WorldSkills,” Stöever concluded.
