Ottawa, Ontario — The Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) has released its 2023 Data Report, wherein the organization details the average automotive dealer financial information, economic data and general information about the auto sector.
According to the report, there are 3,457 total auto dealers in Canada, and the average dealership wrote 8,556 repair orders in 2023. Total service and parts sales per customer repair order was $574. Across all dealers, CADA reported 29,578,092 repair orders.
Total service and parts sales were $8,924,189 per dealership, on average, or $30.8 billion across all dealers.
The average dealership reported 695,000 total bodyshop service and parts sales, down from 714,000 in 2022 and 920,000 in 2023.
CADA reported that bodyshop departments account for 6.84 percent of the average dealership gross. New vehicles account for 37.14 percent; service claims 22.06 percent; parts claims 15.90 percent and used vehicles take up 18 percent.
The report also includes data on automotive dealership employment in 2023. The average dealership has 47 employees, 26 of whom are service technicians, including bodyshop staff.
