Rear Frame Restorations: Tesla Cybertruck’s frame snaps after hitting pothole; costs owner $34,000 in repairs

Toronto, Ontario — A Tesla Cybertruck owner recently shared on social media that despite his truck’s rear subframe being shattered from a pothole and costing $34,000 to fix, they still believe that the vehicle is “the most amazing truck ever.”

Notably, the owner originally shared on Facebook and Reddit that after four months to repair, the Cybertruck “got worked over pretty hard, and many more things needed to be replaced than originally expected.”

The owner continued by stating “as far as I know, this is the first rear frame replacement on a Cybertuck.”

Due to a “very large pothole” in the owner’s “washed-out road,” the truck’s “rear suspension mounts broke and then punched through the frame, requiring the full rear frame replacement. Front and rear rack and pinion steering, suspension all the way around, front and rear bumpers, air suspension systems and bed components, to name a few.”

Of the total $34,000 bill, $21,076 was for replacement parts, $11,140 for labour—totalling 94 hours of work—and $1,796 in taxes.

Despite these costs, the Cybertruck owner concluded that “this is not a commentary on the truck’s durability. You would be astounded at how tough and capable this truck is. This still is the most amazing truck I’ve ever had!”
