Bespoke Investments: Jaguar Land Rover invests £65 million investment to expand paint facilities

London, United Kingdom — Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a £65 million investment (CAD$116,720,825.00) to expand its paint facilities in the United Kingdom and Slovakia. The automaker says this is a direct response to the remarkable doubling in demand for personalized luxury vehicles, particularly within the Range Rover lineup.

The company has witnessed a surge in demand for its exclusive Range Rover SV models and bespoke colour options, prompting the expansion of its capacity for bespoke paint services. This strategic move is expected to support an additional 17,000 client orders annually.

The expansion will revamp JLR’s paint shops in Castle Bromwich, U.K., and Nitra, Slovakia, as part of its commitment to reducing environmental impact. JLR’s Reimagine strategy focuses on minimizing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing processes, particularly in paint operations, which are known to be highly energy-intensive. The Castle Bromwich facility will see a £41 million investment to modernize the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) paint facilities. This will involve replacing existing paint booths with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient application booths set to be operational in 2025. The new installations will utilize advanced filtration and fully automated spray technology, reducing paint waste by 30 percent compared to traditional methods, according to JLR.

At the Nitra facility, a £24 million investment will introduce a fully electric universal paint line, marking a significant step towards electrifying JLR’s paint operations. This innovative line will create 120 new jobs in the region and is expected to begin production in 2026. The transition to electric ovens and other energy-efficient technologies will help JLR avoid approximately 500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually while saving around £750,000 each year through enhanced operational efficiencies.
