Calgary, Alberta — The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is set to host the 2024 Alberta Skilled Trades Instructor Conference from April 23rd to the 25th.
The event, which will bring together industry and faculty alike, will feature a series of keynote discussions and networking sessions in three main streams: technology advancement, teaching and learning, and business leadership.
Discussions in the technology advancement sessions will include talks on green technology and the transition towards increased environmental sustainability in the trades; while talks in the teaching and learning category will focus on increasing diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and adult education; and the business leadership sessions will discuss mentorships, coaching leaders and professional development for new instructors.
Across the three day event, keynote speakers will include Shawn Kanungo, innovation strategist and bestselling author and Michael and Sherry Holmes, Canadian builders and contractors.
The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd with a welcome reception featuring music, appetizers and cocktails as well as the opportunity to connect with industry colleagues.
The rest of the event will feature sessions divided by stream type.
According to a recent press release, “the 2024 Building Futures Conference will bring together Alberta’s Skilled Trades Instructors for two and a half days of education, engagement and collaboration. Showcasing success, advocacy for common issues, exposure to new techniques and technologies, this conference offers delegates a chance to network and learn from industry leaders.”
