Winnipeg, Manitoba — The 26th annual Olympic-style Skills Manitoba competition recently took place on April 11th, at the Red River College Polytech in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
According to the Skills Manitoba website, the event “was an amazing display of hands-on expertise, talent and determination that showcased the diversity of skilled trades and technology and the many promising futures to be found in these occupations.”
During the event, students competed in over 40 different trade-related contests, with the gold medal winners in each event set to form Team Manitoba and compete at Skills Canada’s National Competition in Quebec City from May 29th to June 1st.
Over 500 students from across the province participated in the one day event and were supported by over 300 volunteers representing education, industry and labour sectors.
On its LinkedIn page, AutoCanada Collision Centre and Hail Operations announced congratulations to both Dylan Simmons and Renz Medida for their success during the event. Simmons specifically won first place in the car painting category, while Medida won first in autobody repair.
