Toronto, Ontario — iSeeCars’ latest study has identified the 30 longest-lasting models with a higher-than-average percentage of reaching 400,000 kilometres; Toyota’s Tundra tops the list.
iSeeCar analyzed over 402 million cars to determine which last the longest, judging by odometer kilometres. Of all vehicles identified, the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia are four times more likely to reach 400,000 kilometres or more in mileage.
Following this, the Toyota Tacoma, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Honda Ridgeline are three times more likely to reach 400,000 kilometres, on average.
Moreover, of all the vehicles studied in this year’s report, iSeeCars reported that, of all vehicle types, SUVs dominate the longevity list, taking up 16 of the top 30 slots.
Of individual vehicle brands, Toyota is the most prominent, with the Toyota Tundra possessing a 36.6 percent chance of achieving longevity. In comparison, the other Toyota vehicles are said to have up to a 26 percent chance of longevity.
“Modern vehicles are getting more durable, with 30 models offering between a 12 percent and 36 percent chance of reaching a quarter million miles,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “Many consumers still consider a car’s usable lifespan to end at 100,000 miles. But our latest longest-lasting study confirms that even 200,000 miles isn’t the end of the line for many cars. The top nine cars on this year’s list have a better than 20 percent chance of hitting 250,000 miles.”
