NAPA Canada and Traction donate $115,000 to BCIT

Vancouver – January 25, 2019 – A generous $115,000 gift from NAPA Auto Parts and Traction Heavy Duty Parts will equip students at the British Columbia Institute of Technology with state-of-the-art tools.

“This gift is a wonderful example of how an investment from industry can help shape BC’s future through our students,” said Jackie Jacob, executive director, BCIT Foundation, in a post on BCIT News. “We are so grateful to Napa Auto Parts for their philanthropy and their commitment to helping BCIT graduate the next generation of creators, innovators, and leaders in the trades sector.”

In recognition of their donation, BCIT has named the student learning lab and student lounge at the Motive Power Campus, “NAPA Auto Parts & Traction Essentials Skills Lab.”

BCIT says NAPA has a long history of supporting trades education and employs many BCIT graduates.

The school extended special thanks to Greg Phoenix, general operations manager, NAPA; Keith Martens, regional vice-president, NAPA West; and Brian Shaw, regional vice-president, Traction West; who presented Jackie Jacob with the donation.
