Striding for Change: Waterdown Collision to host annual charity walk in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada

Hamilton, Ontario — On May 26th, Waterdown Collision will be hosting its annual charity walk in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. The event will take place at Bayfront Park in Hamilton, Ont.

The team and work family at Waterdown Collision have raised $12,750 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada this spring alone and over $285,000 in total in support of researching a cure for the condition as well as supporting both children and adults currently living with the condition.

Attendees of the charity walk are encouraged to wear an orange Dante’s team t-shirt to the event if possible. For those who do not have a t-shirt readily available, Waterdown Collision has extras that they are more than ready to share with the community.

With a long history of raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada spanning over 17 years, the company has hosted everything from charity walks to offering tire swaps and car washes in exchange for donations.

Max DeFelice president of Waterdown Collision further reached out to Collision Repair magazine to comment that “I wanted to take a moment and give recognition and a Huge Thank You to the amazing efforts put forth by our Team at Waterdown Collision – GREAT JOB team Waterdown!!”

Collision Repair magazine also spoke to Nadia Mamone, business development and insurance relations coordinator for Waterdown Collision who further noted that “cystic fibrosis affects roughly 4,400 Canadians, one of which is Max’s son Dante. Giving back to our community has always been important to Waterdown Collision, but raising funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis Canada has a special place in our hearts.”

“Fundraising for the walk starts a few months before the actual event. For seven years we had a carwash to raise money. Every year on Mother’s Day Weekend, the Waterdown Collision team and as many as 140 volunteers came together and washed over 400 cars! It was an amazing community event with live entertainment, a BBQ and activities for the family. Eventually it got so big that we had to hire the police to direct traffic! As I am sure you can imagine, blocking traffic at Hwy 5 & Hwy 6 got to be a little too much, so we had to come up with a new initiative. Since 2021 We have been offering the community a seasonal tire swap, mechanical inspection and interior exterior detail for a $75.00 donation. To date we have raised $82,000 with that initiative with 100 percent going to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Annually, the team at Waterdown Collision and friends and family of the DiFelice family also come together at Bayfront park and walk together to show our unified support for this cause.”
