Tech Talks: CIECA to hold vehicle and data privacy webinar on November 21

Toronto, Ontario — The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association (CIECA) has announced that the company’s next webinar will be held on Thursday, November 21 at 2 p.m. EST and will cover “Vehicle Data and Privacy: A Balancing Act.”

The one-hour live broadcast will further feature Adonne Washington, mobility, location and data policy counsel at the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF).

According to a recent press release, with four years of experience dedicated to the privacy and technology space, Washington’s current role at FPF applies her knowledge of various technologies to a more specific sector: mobility and location.

As the mobility, location and data policy counsel, she provides scholarship, guidance and analysis for various policy and privacy issues related to emerging technologies.

“In today’s interconnected world, vehicles are becoming increasingly sophisticated, generating vast amounts of data,” said Washington. “This data, ranging from location and speed to driver behaviour and vehicle health, offers benefits, such as improved safety, efficiency and personalization. However, the collection and use of such data can also raise significant privacy concerns.”

The press release concludes that all collision industry stakeholders, including CIECA members and non-members are invited to attend the presentation. Following the discussion, Washington will also address the opportunities and concerns of vehicle tech.
