Toronto, Ontario — Kia and Transport Canada have announced that the automaker is recalling nearly 60,000 vehicles in the country due to an issue with potentially corroding brake lines.
The affected vehicles are specifically the 2014 to 2019 Kia Soul model years.
Transport Canada’s recall details note that for the affected vehicles, “over time, the brake lines under the vehicle could corrode. If this happens, a brake line could fail and leak. A brake fluid leak can result in reduced braking and the increased risk of a collision.”
As such, the automaker will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership for inspection. If needed, the dealership will apply an anti-corrosion treatment or replace the brake lines.
