With Respect to Rates: SAAQ consultation seeks feedback on proposed changes to auto insurance contributions in 2025 to 2027 periods

Quebec City, Quebec — An expert panel put forward by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) is seeking public feedback in regards to future automotive insurance rate changes.

As outlined in the SAAQ’s “Proposed Insurance Contributions for 2025-2027” information document, an expert panel on automotive insurance contributions made up of Dominique Faribault from the life insurance sector, economist Bernard Turgeon and actuary Micheline Dionne, is opening the floor for public feedback.

This movement is in accordance with the Act respecting the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec in which the SAAQ is required to seek insights from an expert panel before implementing changes to insurance contributions.

The panel’s responsibility is specifically to scrutinize the methodology employed by the SAAQ in setting insurance rates and to verify data supporting proposed amendments.

The public consultation will take place on April 19th and will collect feedback from both individuals and organizations.

Additionally, a public hearing is also scheduled for May 7. This session will be conducted virtually to allow for live broadcasting and on-demand access.

The expert panel anticipates publishing its report in July, offering a comprehensive review of any proposed rate changes.
